I was on duty on the night of June 27, 1998.
About 2:45 a.m., the guest in Room 207 phoned the Front Desk to report screams coming from down the hall.
I immediately dispatched to the second floor and checked the hall. I only heard a loud television in Room 205.
I knocked on 205 and a guy answered. I questioned him and asked him to lower the volume on the T.V.
While I was in the doorway, I noticed there was a hole in the bathroom door. A lady came out of the bathroom and said she wanted to leave. I noticed she was bloody.
I escorted her down to the Lobby, while she told me that the man in the room had assaulted her. I phoned the Daytona Beach Police to respond, and an officer arrived within minutes.
The officer interviewed the victim, then went up to Room 205 to place the man under arrest. The officer hauled the man off to jail, then later returned to follow-up on the victim's condition.
I found out later that the man was an employee visiting from Orlando. He had gotten Room 205 as a courtesy room from his company. His company was upset that I had gotten him arrested! Go figure.
