On the Job - True Stories

November 5, 1999 - Robbery

I was on security patrol for the graveyard shift on Friday, Nov. 5.

About 3:00 a.m., a man entered Denny's Diner and asked Adam, the Manager on duty to phone the Daytona Police. Evidently, he had been mugged on nearby Lenox Avenue.

Patrol car #22 arrived on site within minutes. The officer interviewed the victim while I observed.

The man relayed that a tall black man had approached him, knocked him over with a punch to the face, then reached into his pants pocket and took $40 from him.

The officer took down the info along with the perpetrator's description. He left the site shortly afterward in pursuit. The victim, who was not seriously injured, left our property on foot.
